Kitchen Cupboards Make-over

Transform kitchen cupboards into chalkboards in this easy Kitchen Cupboards Make-over. Just imagine, you can then use this to manage your family and write your grocery list.

What you’ll need for the Kitchen Cupboard Make-over:

  • Sandpaper - 120grit and 360grit to smooth off at the end
  • Masking tape
  • Small roller brush
  • Thin paint brush for edging
  • Small paint tray
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Newspaper to cover your floor

Instructions for the Kitchen Cupboard Make-over:

  • To start off with, give the panels a light sanding. Then use the masking tape on the edges of the panels to ensure that the paint doesn’t go over into the area you don’t want painted.
  • Read the instructions for the chalkboard paint with regards to how many coats you need to apply and if you need to stir/not.
  • Starting from the top panels, edge them first with the small brush and thereafter complete each with the roller. Be careful about painting over the masking tape. Although it is there to ‘control’ the flow of paint onto the edging, if you have too much paint on your brush it may seep through.
  • After two coats of paint have dried, your panels will feel very rough. This is normal.
  • Take the smoothest sandpaper you have and lightly sand the panels. You may want to do another coat after this and if you do, repeat the light sandpaper again.
  • The last step is to remove the masking tape. If you see that there has been some overlap of the paint, you can use the light sandpaper to gently remove this.
